WINTER FAIR: 1ST DEC 2023

The Fair is a highlight of the school year, with a fantastic range of toys, activity & games stalls; prizes to win; festive food & drink and other surprises. It does need lots of help in the form of donations and time, but the more that goes in, the more the children get out of it!

Volunteers

First and foremost: in order to operate everything we’d like to offer, successfully and smoothly, we need as many people as possible to volunteer to help set up / take down and staff stalls and games.

We have a Volunteer Sheet, with all tasks broken down into (hopefully) manageable time slots. Please consider pitching in to help with the Fair – perhaps ‘tag teaming’ with another parent/carer of a child’s friend?

You can find the sign-up form here: Volunteer Sheet.

Fun at the Christmas Fair

P1080205

A lot of fun was had by all at the 2014 Christmas Fair on 5th December and we managed to raise over £3,000!

With help from teachers, parent volunteers, Tadpoles, ex-Goldstone students and others – our trickiest event (hundreds of children and their parents/carers at an indoor event) was great this year.

The whole fair was changed around this year to try and cut down on congestion in certain places, and the feedback on the changes was very positive, with people finding it much easier to navigate their way around!

The children had fun visiting Santa, mining for cuddly toys in the cuddly toy cave, getting glitter tattoos and facepaint, testing their football skills at the Speedy Shot Challenge provided by Hangleton Rangers, bouncing on the bouncy castle, making cards and baubles, playing on the games in the Infant Hall, buying gifts for their parents and siblings at the pocket money presents stall and more, while the grow ups enjoyed a mulled wine, made purchases at the stalls in the Junior Hall, were entertained by Christmas songs from Goldstone’s Junior Choir and tried their luck on the ever popular bottle tombola!

As ever there are far too many people who put in their time and effort or made donations to thank you all – but you all know what you did, and hopefully realise how much we appreciated it all! Everything that happens at these events relies on so many people – those of you who brought in chocolate and bottles for the tombolas, made or bought cakes for the cake stall, decorated the grotto, sat in the grotto for ages (Thanks Santa! :P), face painted, decorated tables, manned stalls, lugged tables and crates around the school, cooked hotdogs, made popcorn, the school staff who volunteered in various ways despite having been at school all day… the list really is endless!

Thanks for making Goldstone such a lovely place to be.
